چکیده
Scientific research studies on jet noise generation have been ongoing since the early 1950s, when turbojets were first used in commercial aircraft. Several numerical methods developed with aim of reducing environmental issues related to impact community annoyance. Among them, development fast and comprehensive tools for prediction captured attention researchers engineers, being very useful preliminary design phase aircraft engines. This work deals an extensive survey James R. Stone’s models, initially formulated National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA) by Modern Technologies Corporation (MTC), their implementation a contemporary framework. The models are validated simulating different engine settings nozzle configurations taken from literature main scope highlighting strengths weaknesses semi-empirical formulations setting guidelines effective use during phases next supersonic

A Rapid Geometry Engine for Preliminary Aircraft Design
A rapid geometry engine (RAGE) has been developed to allow for preliminary design analysis without labor-intensive CAD support. The geometry tool builds complex aircraft configurations using a component-based approach. Basic algorithms for creating the primary components are presented and discussed. Examples of many widely varying geometry models are shown. A select geometry model is analyzed w...
متن کاملSimulation of Supersonic Military Aircraft Jet Noise
Background: There is a growing need to reduce significantly the noise generated by high-performance, supersonic military aircraft. The noise generated during takeoff and landing on aircraft carriers has direct impact on shipboard health and safety issues. Also, noise complaints are increasing as communities move closer to military bases or when there are changes due to base closures and realign...
متن کامل[en-023] Mathematical Models for Aircraft Trajectory Design : a Survey
Air traffic management ensure the safety of flight by optimizing flows and maintaining separation between aircraft. After giving some definitions, some typical feature of aircraft trajectories are presented. Trajectories are objects belonging to spaces with infinite dimensions. The naive way to address such problem is to sample trajectories at some regular points and to create a big vector of p...
متن کاملReal-time measurements of jet aircraft engine exhaust.
Particulate-phase exhaust properties from two different types of ground-based jet aircraft engines--high-thrust and turboshaft--were studied with real-time instruments on a portable pallet and additional time-integrated sampling devices. The real-time instruments successfully characterized rapidly changing particulate mass, light absorption, and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) content. Th...
متن کاملA preliminary investigation of near-field acoustical holography in characterizing noise from military jet aircraft
Since its introduction, near-field acoustical holography (NAH) has been successfully used in characterizing the vibration of and radiation from a wide class of structural noise sources. In the past several years, some have begun to apply NAH to the characterization of aeroacoustic noise sources. To date, however, research has involved only axial fans and model-scale subsonic jets. In order to m...
